Thank you for your interest in the General Practice Dental Residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio.  Our program, while new, is located in an institution of Medical Education and Research comprising of 13 residencies, a house staff of 200, a facility of 1,200 beds, and a level one trauma center. The new dental clinic was designed to be dedicated to resident education using advanced high technology equipment and a strong clinical and academic educational program.  The patient population is large enough to provide a wide variety of experiences for both in-patient and outpatient care.  Dental residents will have the same benefits and compensation as their medical resident counter parts.  The many medical rotations, which dental residents will experience, will provide an educational experience in patient care, which most recent graduates do not receive.   We welcome you to review our program and to include Summa Health System in your future academic plans.
